I'm 16 years old and I need help with my hair. My mom bought me the TreSemme Shampoo and Conditioner. Ever since I started using it, my hair began falling out more then usual. Everytime I brush my hair, wash my hair, or just play with it...I always end up pulling out a lot of hair and it's scaring me. I don't know if it was the shampoo or if I'm washing my hair too much, but I'm just losing a lot of hair. My mom says that it's normal...but I'm losing more than usual. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Maybe you're allergic to that shampoo?  Try changing to a different brand and see if it helps.

Your hair does go through a shedding, growing and then a resting phase- you could possibly be in the shedding phase and it is a co-incidence this is all happening at the same time. It is normal to loose 50-100 hairs a day with regular brushing. Do you wear your hair back in a tight ponytail? That will add stress to the hair and cause some to break. Personally I only recommend professional hair products bought in a licensed salon. Products you buy in Walmart, etc... are full of harsh detergents that dry out hair and waxes that coat hair- a great combination for disasterous hair! The products may cost a little more but they last a long time because they are concentrated. Think about it- how often do you see a hairstylist with really dry, frizzy hair? Not very often. Good luck!

I'm only 16 also and I'm experiencing hair loss. 40 more strands fall out one time when i just run my fingers through hair when I wake up in the morning. Is this NORMAL? I don't think so. I know it's normal to lose 50-100 strands per day, but I think I definitely loses more than that! My hair is already baby fine and thin, so lossing 100 strands a day would mean a lot to me!!

I dunno my real cause of lossing hair, but I guess it's because there is some waxy coating buildup on my scalp...blocking the pores...causing hair to detach from it....

From now on I will stop using those cheap drugstore hair care products and switch to department store products...see if it works...

For some poeple it can be very easy to lose hair on there head.  I have a similar experience with a shampoo that made my hair go very thin and lose alot of it.  I actually baught it at a solon thinking everything there was good for my hair but the Rusk sensories "Brilliance" was deadly to my hair.  Not everything you buy at a solon will do wonders to your hair, as I found out. I wrote the company about what happened because I was very upset and they never responded. There are so many things that effect your hair, I suggest changing your shampoo and finding the right one for you.

Fructis is what I use now and it's works great.  Using to much shampoo also will cause your hair to thin because it causes build up. For girls with long hair you use a quarter size ammount, for short hair a pea size ammount.

If you this worried about it...why not seek the advice of your family doctor?
