My wife works in a law office where professional attire is mandatory. So, usually she wears a business suit with a skirt or trousers, and a femanine blouse. Recently she has started wearing a dress shirt with a necktie under her suits. She really looks very flattering and sexy. She claims that the shirt and tie look is in style now, and I have seen a few women on television sporting this look, but none around here. Is a woman wearing a suit and tie in style or not?

It's not in style where I live. If I saw a woman wearing a male-style suit and tie I would assume there was something going on there that transcended fashion, that she was intentionally making some kind of statement.

I like the way women look in ties.  But knowing how hard they can be to tie and how uncomfortable they can be, I'm surprised anyone wears them unless it's required -_- .

Over the last several weeks I have noticed a couple of women on television wearing suits with dress shirts and neckties on. Wynona Judd has appeared on Oprah and the Ellen show wearing a tie, a female newscaster on one of the morning cable news shows has worn a suit and tie a couple of times in the past few weeks, and I have seen other women on the tube sporting this look. Last night my wife and I went out to dinner and she wore a three piece black pinstripe suit, I suggested that a tie would look nice and she agreed. She got compliments from both waitresses and the owner of the restaurant. I think this look is very stylish, and has nothing to do with making any kind of statement.
