clip on hair vs extensions?

I would love longer fuller hair on my wedding day and honeymoon. I have hair down the middle of my back BUT layered. I would like to add volume and length but do not want to damage my hair. FYI I have tricotillimania (sp) and I feel that if I get extensions I may not have the urge to pull anymore. does anyone have experience with this.
