William: you are so knowledgeable - I hope you write a book!I am 5 ft. 9 inches tall with broad shoulders from swimming and a long neck. I am a size 8-10. I have highlihted blonde, thick, coarse hair below my shoulders. I have an oval face and even features. I am late 30s.I always had very long hair, but my husband loves short hair and would love me to get it cut shorter. I hate to bother with hair. Can you think of a style that would suit me, or do you think I should keep it as it is.It is now OK, though does get a bit dry and bushy at times.I would appreciate your help. It is so traumatic for me to even think about short hair, but I would like to give it a try cos I feel my hair is a bit "nothing" if you know what I mean. Thanks for your help, William - and for all the wonderful posts you do.

However a couple of suggestions: 1) if you have a long neck and are tall as you describe, be careful about going too short! With your height and long neck a severe crop cut will make you appear like a pin head! However a much shorter cut can inject new life into your relationship and give you a new perspective on things. A good cut to try with your face shape is anything! Being born with an oval face is a godsend. A short chop (90210) style or a 'long boy cut' with the nape and sides cut short yet softly feminine and the crown/bang area left long on the boy cut or with lots of short defined layers on the chop cut will help tame your thick hair and lend a soft feminine touch .william

Caroline,Just to add slightly to william's excellent advice, you may want to also consider something along the lines of Rene Russo's new cut. You can get some additional information on it by clicking "here". And click "here" for a picture. I really think it may be a good option for you.Later,JerkyFleaRelated Link:JerkyFlea's Celebrity Hair Spray
